We understand that many of you were affected by the recent database issues at Kaiser. The core SQL corruption problem has now been fully resolved, but some of your databases might still be corrupted at a system level<\/strong>. Don\u2019t worry \u2014 we\u2019ve got you covered!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our team is manually restoring databases<\/strong> one by one using a safe backup from 3rd or 4th July<\/strong>, but if you’d like to restore your sites yourself and save time, this guide is for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Older backups!<\/p><\/div>

IF 3rd or 4th July<\/strong> is not available, you can use any available latest backup instead.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s walk through how to restore your database safely<\/strong> using JetBackup<\/strong> from your cPanel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc What Happened?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A critical corruption occurred in the SQL engine on our server, Kaiser<\/strong>, causing issues in how some databases were being read and loaded. While we\u2019ve resolved the root server issue, some cPanel accounts still have broken or empty databases<\/strong> due to that corruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2705 The good news: Backups from 3rd or 4th July<\/strong> are safe and healthy<\/strong>, so you can restore from there!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83e\uddf0 What You Need To Do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If your site is showing errors or missing data, you may need to manually restore your MySQL database and its user<\/strong>. This process is beginner-friendly and takes just a few minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udd01 Step-by-Step: Restore Your Database via JetBackup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  1. Log in to your cPanel account<\/strong>
    Use your cPanel credentials provided by HostingSpell.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Locate JetBackup<\/strong>
    Inside cPanel, scroll or search for the JetBackup<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Click on \u201cRestore\u201d<\/strong> under Database Backups<\/strong>
    This will show you all the available restore points.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Select the 3rd or 4th July<\/strong> backup<\/strong>

  5. Restore the Database and its User<\/strong>
    Make sure to check both:\n
      \n
    • \u2705 Your Database (e.g., yourcpaneluser_wp123<\/code>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • \u2705 Database User (e.g., yourcpaneluser_wpuser<\/code>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Click \u201cRestore\u201d<\/strong>
      JetBackup will begin the restore process. It might take a couple of minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
      \n\n\n\n

      \u274c What If the Restore Fails?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      In some cases, you may see the restoration fail<\/strong>. Here\u2019s why and how to fix it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \ud83d\udea8 Common Reason:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
      \n

      JetBackup cannot restore<\/strong> a backup over an empty or corrupted database<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

      \u2705 Solution:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      1. Open PhpMyAdmin<\/strong> from your cPanel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Select the affected database from the left sidebar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Check if it is empty<\/strong> (no tables or data).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. If empty<\/strong>, you need to DROP (delete) the database<\/strong>.\n

        • Click the database name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Scroll to the bottom and click \u201cCheck All\u201d.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Select \u201cDrop\u201d from the dropdown.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Confirm the deletion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Now go back to JetBackup<\/strong>, and try the restore again \u2014 it will succeed this time!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
