This article is all about explaining to you that asking for more or giving more discount is not possible. It’s not like we can’t, it’s all about why we won’t.
Buying a Shared Hosting with us or any company is usually the most affordable solution. Here at HostingSpell.com Web Hosting is CHEAPEST you can get on anywhere on Planet ?. Explaining why?!
The first and the foremost reason is that we take really less profit! Yes, tiniest possible! We run servers, manage them for like lowest price possible for your hosting account. Maybe you will think that we are crazy enough to be like that but that’s not craziness! It’s our aim to give you really low price web hosting possible. Web Hosting at 5.49$/Year.
To make it cheaper from users’ point of view there are many hacks like showing price 2$/Month on the front but when you go through checkout you will find that 2$/Month is only possible if you sell your girlfriend’s kidney and buy hosting for like 3 Years! Yeah damm! 3theeereee Yearse! Otherwise, it’s 12$/Month (?? goes on as background music).
We believe that it’s a supernatural nonsense way to make you annoying or idiot depending upon you personally. Wait don’t blame a company for this setup! It’s easy to reduce the price in the long term because you are paying more money upfront and it’s quick money for the company. This practice is nonsense but still in place by many many companies, you name it!
We simply provide 2 billing cycles yearly and monthly. It’s perfect, to be honest, not too away not close. Customers can choose themselves by tossing a coin at least. Pricing won’t be advertised cheap on the front-end as we discussed earlier. It’s all that we both have. Fooling you is not our job you can do that by yourself. Nevermind I need to write this to make this blog look big! Thanks, Google! No Thanks!
Anyways put clichéd hacks aside I want to share with you some (overview) of how a web hosting company set up a simple server and calculates cost and profit. It’s easy! Why because I’ll use fewer Technical terms obviously!
To start off you need a server, I mean real server would be nice not talking about your grand’s old road race PC. We will consider the Server as Xeon™ E5 family-based 2 CPUs and decent RAM like 128GB. SSD is the norm by God so we will add 4 SSD of 1TB Size (:no raids set up in explanation please: emoji). In easy term 4×1 TB SSD. To spice up things a little bit we will add 1Gbps Uplink with some tweaks like a ping-pong table and stuff. This Ping-pong server will now cost you 200$-500$ per month. Yes, month! On average we will take a 250$ month figure. Now, this is it? No! Let me explain in the next para.
This server is something like bare metal. You need more things to make any practical use of it. We will add cPanel/WHM License here, it’s 45$/Month mostly. I’m using words mostly because cPanel is on a wild ride. They change prices like Shangai Stock Exchange to RIP soul. Talking about r1pp1ng? let’s add LiteSpeed Web Server, here is another 65$/Month. What about CloudLinux and KernelCare (not that luxury brand)? 16$ + 3.5$ per month, added! Roughly 20$ per month for both of these bad bois.
Now we will add stuff for security like Imunify360, it’s roughly 45$/Month. ConfigServer Firewall or CSX in short for 60$ once. Let’s Encrypt SSL Plugin for 30$ once. Now we will add some feature-rich services like SitePad Website Builder and Softaculous One Click Script Installer from Softaculous. These two will be around 8$ per month. To back up all cPanel Accounts we will need JetBackup with a good server, Yes another real server to store data remotely for 120$ per month, and a JetBackup license is 6$/Month. I guess that’s it for a really simple web hosting server. More things are added in reality to power official web hosting servers. For now, we will use this setup for reference.
To make things easy, here is the table:
Servers & Services | Prices | Billing Term |
---|---|---|
Main Server Xeon E5 | ~250 USD. | Monthly |
LiteSpeed Web Server | 65 USD. | Monthly |
cPanel/WHM License | 45 USD. | Monthly |
CloudLinux & KernelCare | 20 USD. | Monthly |
Imunify360 | 45 USD. | Monthly |
CSX | 60 USD. | One Time |
Let’s Encrypt SSL Plugin | 30 USD. | One Time |
SitePad Website Builder | 5 USD. | Monthly |
Softaculous Script Installer | 2 USD. | Monthly |
JetBackup License | 6 USD. | Monthly |
Backup Server | ~120$ | Monthly |
24/7 Technical Support (Individual) | ~500$ | Monthly |
Total is 1050 USD. per month. I assumed a low average for the Support aspect as an Individual maintaining your server 24/7 for a month. If you convert 1050 USD. to your currency (if not from the USA) you can achieve that ‘Woah dude!’ feeling. I’m not including any other cost that standard web hosting companies carry. Costs such as Backend/Client Management software, IT and Server Automation software, Ticket and chat software, and many others that one can’t know simply.
Conclusion
If the hosting company hosts 500 accounts on the above-mentioned prototype with 2$/month then at some point they will make the whole profit-loss neutral. It’s hard to bargain here! now imagine we are offering more feature-rich servers and support that just starts at 0.45$/month. Forget 2 dollars or 1 dollar!
Please read this before asking for your next discount code, we will be happy if you understand how things work 🙂
